Language - rich Environment
Background:
- In 2005 all primary schools under the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong first implemented the LRLE Policy which aimed at providing a stimulating English language-rich learning environment in school.
- The second stage of the LRLE policy involving secondary schools and kindergartens has started since 2010; emphasizing the use of English as the medium of communication with students.
Objectives:
- To let students learn and use English and Putonghua in a natural way inside and outside classrooms;
- To raise students’ motivation and interest in language learning;
- To infuse English and Putonghua into students’ daily lives as the habit of using them to communicate with one another;
- To cultivate students with the knowledge that languages open doors to the world and bring people from all walks of life together.
Vision:
- To facilitate the creation of an authentic language-rich society;
- To contribute their language proficiency to the school, family, neighbourhood and society.
