Aims
To cope with the challenges of the 21st century, we acknowledge the importance of promoting STEAM education to cultivate students' problem-solving abilities and creativity from an early age by strengthening their knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Our goal is to nurture Josephians not only with varying levels of knowledge and skills but also with a strong sense of humanistic spirit and information literacy, contributing to the development of our country and the world. |

STEAM Education Strategy
1. School-based interdisciplinary STEAM units: By integrating content from various subjects, we have implemented a range of theme-based STEAM learning activities. These activities help strengthen students’ ability to synthesise knowledge and skills across disciplines. We believe interdisciplinary collaboration helps students better apply their knowledge and skills in practical contexts. |
2. Wednesday Programmes and STEAM Buddies Programme: Enriched STEAM learning courses are offered to our Josephians. On one hand, courses for P.3-4 students focus on scientific theories and knowledge, providing hands-on science experiments and model-building activities that foster students’ curiosity in scientific inquiry; on the other hand, we also design and prepare STEAM experiment kits for each grade level, extending their learning experience at home after studying scientific theories at school. |
3. Gifted Education: Our school has four gifted groups centered on STEAM education: Cyber Ranger (photography), Cyber Genius (robotics and drones), SJ Journalist (videography and interview skills), and SJ Maker (digital art and maker education). These groups provide advanced STEAM learning opportunities to meet the diverse interests and talents of our gifted Josephians in different areas. |

STEAM Learning Outcomes
1. School-wide Promotion and Exhibition: Our STEAM activity room, STEAM achievement corner, and gifted education room are designed to display their exceptional work related to STEAM education. Most importantly, we will exhibit the award-winning inventions during our annual STEAM Exhibition to showcase their achievements. |
2. External Competitions: Our students have consistently achieved outstanding results in external competitions. Examples include ‘Gold Award’ in the ArTech Metaverse Music Video Competition and C. Maker and Programming Competition during the Hong Kong Academic STEAM Competition 2022, ‘1st runner-up in Best Innovation Solution Display’ at the Student Mentorship Programme on Innovation and Technology co-organised by the Education Bureau and Cyberport, ‘Gold Award’ in the 8th and 10th Hong Kong International Student Innovative Invention Contest, ‘First Prize’ in the APAI 2024 Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Youth Innovation Competition at the National University of Singapore. |
3. External Exhibition & Media Coverage: Over the past few years, our students’ artistic creations and innovative inventions have been showcased at various events, such as the Student Mentorship Programme on Innovation and Technology Exhibition co-organised by the Education Bureau and Cyberport in 2023, Hong Kong Science Fair 2023-24, Learning and Teaching Expo (2023, 2024). Recent media coverage includes interviews with TVB, Sing Tao Daily, HK01, and RTHK programmes, where our SJ Makers were invited to share their STEAM invention ideas. |
