About SJACPS > Aims & Mission

School Aims

We are a Catholic private non-profit making primary school for boys, founded by the Rev Bro Paul Sun. The school is named after the great Saint Joseph, and we seek to follow his virtuous example, to serve God wholeheartedly, to love our neighbour, and to show understanding and sympathy to others. We also seek to foster the younger generation by adhering to the spirit of the Gospel, and to help our pupils to grow in happiness by providing them with quality fundamental education.

Mission

To provide quality teaching; to emphasise the importance of the learning process, and to encourage thinking and creativity.
To help pupils understand themselves and to build self-confidence and esteem.
To help pupils develop their personal potential and then to strive for excellence.
To encourage pupils to carry out their duty towards society, Country and God.
To help pupils know God, and put the Gospel into practice.

School Motto

Ad Astra
Ad astra is a Latin phrase meaning "to the stars",
it signifies our desire to excel in all fields of school life,
and this motto is meant to animate the hearts of all Josephians.

A school badge is a symbol signifying the ideals and traditions of a school.

The motto at the top, Ad Astra, are Latin words meaning "to the stars",
signifying the desire to excel in the fields of school life and

The Cross at the top left-hand corner symbolises the Catholic faith.

The Chinese characters below signify "benevolence",
which means we should be kind and helpful to others.

Next, there is the Lamp - it's the light of knowledge which
we endeavour to acquire, especially during our school years.

Finally, at the top right there is the "Lily of St. Joseph",
signifying the purity of life and great Patron of our school.

School Song

Come you loyal son Josephian, sing your Alma Mater's praise! Let our youthful voices proudly sing with the love of her kindly way.

* When the road of life is rough up hill and the skies hang grey and grim; then our steps will be light, and our eyes shining bright, like true sons of SJACS.

Though the days of boyhood speed away, never to return again; though this day will be the morrow’s past, yet are we tomorrow’s men.

Repeat *
